Life has a funny way of coming around.
Sometimes it comes around slowly, like a quiet idea that keeps showing up in the back of your mind. Other times, it kicks the door open and says, “Congratulations, you’re starting over at 40.”
So here we are.
Starting a new business is exciting. It is also terrifying. Starting a new business in a new state, after already being in a successful place, with established relationships, familiar routines, and a customer base you have worked hard to build? That is a whole different level of terrifying. That is the kind of terrifying that makes you stare at paperwork at 10 p.m. and wonder if anyone has ever actually read all the fine print or if we are all just out here pretending.
A New Chapter
For us, MW Fabrication is not just a new business. It is a new chapter. A big one.
We are coming from Montana, where we had roots, relationships, and a solid foundation. Wes built a name for himself through quality work, problem-solving, and the kind of craftsmanship that does not need a lot of talking behind it. The work speaks for itself. I, Melissa, have spent the last seven years as the Director of Operations for a very successful pool company in Kalispell, Montana. I know what it means to keep things moving, manage details, solve problems, communicate with customers, and make sure the wheels do not fall off behind the scenes.
Now we are taking everything we have learned, packing it up, and bringing it to Arizona.
Simple enough, right?
Not exactly.
Learning a New Landscape
Every state does things differently. What works in Montana does not automatically work in Arizona. Business structures, processes, rules, licensing, expectations, markets, customers — it all shifts. You do not just open the same business in a new place and expect everything to fall neatly into line. There is a learning curve, and I will be honest, I am still climbing it.
Some days it feels exciting. Some days it feels like I accidentally signed up for a class where the textbook is missing and the test is tomorrow.
But we are learning. We are adjusting. We are building.
And that is really what this is about.
The Foundation
MW Fabrication may be new to Arizona, but the experience behind it is not new. The pride in the work is not new. The standards are not new. Wes is still the genius behind the metal and fabrication. That has not changed one bit. He has an eye for it, a feel for it, and the ability to turn raw material into something solid, useful, and well-built. Whether it is custom fabrication, welding, repairs, gates, railings, structural pieces, or something that starts with a customer saying, “I’m not sure if this is possible, but…” — that is where he shines.
The man understands metal.
I understand schedules, customers, operations, details, and making sure the thing actually becomes a functioning business instead of just a really expensive collection of tools and good intentions.
Together, we make a pretty solid team.
Building Together
That is one of the parts we are most excited about. For years, we have each had our own thing. Wes had his work. I had mine. We were both building, managing, problem-solving, and pushing forward, but often in separate lanes. Now, for the first time, we get to do it together.
Of course, that also means Wes gets to take a little more direction from me.
Thankfully, he does very well with that.
Most of the time.
All joking aside, there is something special about building something together as a husband and wife. It is not always easy. There is always something to do. Always another form, another call, another estimate, another errand, another decision, another “Hey, did we already handle that?” moment. But there is also a shared purpose behind it. We are not just working for a company. We are building our company.
That changes the way everything feels.
It feels personal because it is personal.
Our Commitment
When your name is attached to the work, quality matters even more. Communication matters more. Showing up matters more. Doing what you said you would do matters more. Every job becomes part of the reputation you are building, and we take that seriously.
Our goal in Arizona is simple: we want to be as successful here as we were in Montana. Not overnight. Not by cutting corners. Not by being the cheapest option or promising things we cannot deliver. We want to build success the same way we build everything else — with solid materials, honest work, attention to detail, and a finished product people can trust.

That is not how we operate.

Arizona is our next chapter, and we are ready for it.
